Safari is included with your Mac operating system.
Updating Safari
To keep Safari up to date for the version of macOS you're using, install the latest macOS updates.
- In the Maps app on your Mac, click Directions (or use the Touch Bar), then enter a starting and ending location. If your current location is showing, Maps uses it as your starting location, but you can enter a different one. You can also click the Swap Directions button to swap your starting and ending locations. As you type, Maps offers suggestions that include your favorites, recent.
- First, as stated in the title, Apple Maps does not offer an option to download offline maps. Google Maps, on the other hand, does permit a user to download as many offline maps as he or she desires. I don't understand why Apple cannot simply add in this helpful feature.
- Apple Maps also saves the images of your maps on the display so that you can refer to the map without a signal. But the only thing that the phone has, by itself, is the original route, the GPS signal, and the saved map images.

The most recent version of macOS includes the most recent version of Safari. For some earlier versions of macOS, Safari might also be available separately from the Updates tab of the App Store.

Reinstalling Safari
If you deleted Safari and don't have a Time Machine backup or other backup, reinstall macOS to put Safari back in your Applications folder. Reinstalling macOS doesn't remove data from your computer.
Before reinstalling, you might want to use Spotlight to search for Safari on your Mac. If you find it, but it's no longer in your Dock, just drag it to the Dock to add it back.
Safari for Windows
Apple no longer offers Safari updates for Windows. Safari 5.1.7 for Windows was the last version made for Windows, and it is now outdated.

You can now use Maps to get cycling directions that route you along bike lanes, paths, and roads.1 Maps takes elevation into account, so you’ll be alerted if there are steep passages along the way or if you’ll need to carry your bike up stairs. You can also choose a route that avoids busier roads. And Maps offers custom cycling voice guidance and a rich experience on Apple Watch that makes it easy to navigate with a glance.

Now it’s easier to plan trips and find the best route for your electric vehicle. Maps can track your current vehicle charge and factor in things like elevation to automatically add charging stops along the way. It knows which type of charger works for your car, making sure to route you to compatible stations.3 And it even accounts for charging time when calculating your ETA.

Maps lets you know when you’re approaching speed cameras and red‑light cameras along your route so you can anticipate potential slowing traffic ahead. You can also see where individual cameras are located on the map.
