Personal Ancestral File (PAF) by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Personal Ancestral File has been available free for many years and has a large following. The LDS stopped offering PAF downloads or support on July 15, 2013. The final version is 5.2.18.0 (2005) and is still available at Parowan Software. PAW2U is the universal binary version of Personal Ancestry Writer II, aka PAWriter. It combines most of the features of the LDS Personal Ancestral File program (PAF) for the Mac, for which all development stopped a few years ago after release 2.3.1, with additional features that generate Web pages in HTML, word processing files in RTF for example, AppleWorks, and desktop publishing files in.

Wonderfully simple, NO spyware, easy to learn to use and to share with others - there is even a simple WebMaking Tool on the program. I love the charts that can be printed out. There are other places to obtain the program (use a friendly search engine to find them) so no need for sorrow about the Mormons so-called ‘Not-supporting’ it by terminating the easy download of the program from their site. To those of us who know something about stocks and IT departments this was obviously a decision made to push programs that make it easy for ancestry, my heritage, etc to slurp up your hard work once they became ‘partners’ of familysearch - a decision pushed through by stock-holders of those ‘partners’ who also worked in the familysearch IT dept or by the Elite$ in all companie$ and organization$ who always salivate for more money no matter how they get it - including taking advantage of true-believers.
FUNNY about Colin ‘dire warnings” statement - giggle - hmm never happened in my tests so perhaps Colin needs tech-support? Although we must all use a virus checker after downloading anything (even pics) from the web or in email
